qui·noa [keen-wa, kee-noh-uh]
–noun
a tall crop plant, Chenopodium quinoa, of the goosefoot family, cultivated in Peru and Chile for its small, ivory-colored seed, which is used as a food staple.
I can’t really remember when my obsession with quinoa started, but it’s been around for awhile. My friends now expect quinoa cake on a regular basis, and when I get invited to potlucks it is assumed that I will probably bring along a quinoa salad. Predictable yet delicious.
I decided to combine my obsession with not only quinoa but also food photography and launch a blog devoted solely to the complete protein grain. Having recently turned vegetarian, and sticking to a mostly gluten free diet, these recipes are all in line with my personal habits…
It might seem a tad ridiculous to have a food blog with such a limited focus, but as I’ve looked for recipes with quinoa, there isn’t one site out there that concentrates on just the grain. And it’s such a versatile one; everything from breakfast to dessert. So here it is: a blog solely devoted to the wonders of my favorite grain. Enjoy!
